FREE Midjourney/AI Prompting Cheat Sheet

I’m always trying to soak in AI knowledge, and I stumbled upon a FANTASTIC resource from AI Guru Rory Flynn:

It’s a cheat sheet on effective prompting! Made specifically for Midjourney, but is useful for all image generators. You can download it yourself at his website. It’s completely free of charge:

I know… it’s A LOT of information, but I suggest focusing on this section first:

Let’s break it down. Zoom into this:

Basically, here’s the gist: As with anything in life—the more instructions you give, the more on-target the results will be.

  • Flynn does NOT recommend using full sentences because extraneous words (that have many meanings) can have unexpected/unwanted effects in the final output.

  • Powerful language = better results (enormous > big, vibrant > colorful)

  • Think and talk like a photographer (this is where his cheat sheet really shines!)

  • The order of the instructions in your prompt matters

Listen to Flynn explain it himself:

If you’re trying to generate a realistic image (as opposed to a cartoon/Pixar character or something), THIS is your road map:

More details = better results. That makes a ton of sense. And it also makes sense how we need to think and talk like a photographer. How else can you articulate your vision?

If you’re already experienced in photography and are familiar with the lingo, you have a big advantage here. But if you’re not, this cheat sheet is an amazing place to start:

Yum. It’s like a huge buffet menu of image instructions. Pick and choose to your heart’s desire. Play around and experiment with different combinations.

Flynn also breaks down the lens and shot types:

There are also some tips on how to get consistent images:

Can you believe this cheat sheet is free??? Incredible value. Check out his website to grab one yourself. There are also other free guides as well.
