Don’t be afraid to ask “stupid” questions

There is humility in acknowledging that you do not understand something. And there is courage in asking questions to seek understanding.

Many people are afraid to do this! They don’t want to look “dumb,” so they just pretend to understand.

That’s how trouble happens.

That’s how you get a group of people in a room agreeing to something that nobody really believes.

So be okay with being the “idiot.” There’s a lot of value in it.

“The man who asks a question is a fool for a minute.
The man who does not ask is a fool for life.”

Remember: be kind when asking questions

Nobody wants to be called out or put on the spot. Make sure your heart is full of mercy and your brain full of curiosity. Never ask questions to try to embarrass someone like, “Gotcha! Your junk doesn’t make any sense! BOOYA! I’m smart!”

Be humble and sincerely try to understand the topic. You might legitimately be super dumb and need to catch up.
