Apple just dropped a ridiculous graphic

Apple is celebrating 20 years of podcasts, and they featured this graphic of two microphones being lit in such a way that it forms the number “20.”

Spectacular.

When I first encountered this, I saw it pretty big, so it took me an embarrassingly long time to understand what all the fuss was about. “What? It’s just two microphones.” But after about 4 attempts, I finally saw the hidden 20.

(It’s much easier to see it when the image is small because you have no choice but to see the forms of the numbers.)

My first thought was… HOW did they come up with this? I mean, I can kind of imagine how:

But seriously. The execution is so contrived, yet they pulled it off so well. That must’ve been so daunting.

I mean, can you imagine???

“Yeah, getting that tilted microphone to look right is going to be a challenge. What are you going to do? Build this in 3D and then mess around with the lighting? Haha! Good luck!”

As far as hidden anniversary graphics go, it reminds me of this awesome 30th Anniversary graphic from Disneyland Paris:

A 30 that looks like the iconic Mickey Mouse shape? How clever is that?! Phenomenal!
