What creative job will AI steal?
Check out this interesting video from Art Director Jason Murray about the creative job AI will steal:
Murray believes AI will steal half of our jobs—and it’s not the half that we expect.
He categorizes jobs into two categories: VISION and EXECUTION.
Visionaries have the story. They have the money and call the shots.
Executors make the story come to life. They’re the makers: designers, animators, producers, etc.
Murray says he became an Art Director because he wanted to be both a Visionary and an Executor. Right smack in the middle.
He comes up with ideas, and he also gets to work with people who execute his vision.
He also uses his maker skills to sell the idea.
So which half of the creative industry is going to be replaced by AI?
You’re probably thinking of the wrong half.
It’s NOT the people with the vision. It’s NOT the people executing the vision.
It’s the people in the middle.
“AI is shortening the path between vision and execution; between ideas and making those ideas. Until eventually those two sides meet in the middle and all that matters is the idea. So if you're in the middle like me, you've got to get insanely good at storytelling and having that big picture vision, OR take this AI stuff seriously. Use your technical skills to dive into the technology and what's possible. Push the boundaries using AI tools to become an expert in the field.”
