Affinity is now “Free, Forever”

Pro design tools… for FREE?

Everyone wants to know… what’s the catch?

Apparently, there isn’t one.

Canva's co-founder and Chief Product Officer Cameron Adams hears the skepticism, and explains:

“So why make it free then?

Because we believe every designer deserves access to tools that respect their craft. Because the industry needs a shift from gatekeeping to generosity. And because we've built a sustainable business model at Canva that allows us to support this kind of access without compromising on product quality or user trust. This isn't a marketing stunt. It is a long-term bet on creative freedom.”

Interesting. Adobe has been almost malicious to its users lately, probably because they know they have a monopoly on the industry. But Affinity is coming for the throne:

Bring it on. Competition is good for the consumer.

I don’t use Affinity but it’s nice to know there’s a free alternative, forever.
